"ON THE WAY"

My Faith Journey

Back in early 1963 I was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church at Our Lady of Mercy Parish in Chicago. Since that time, in one way or another the Catholic Faith and the Church have been integral to my life, first as a child serving Mass at my home parish of St. Thecla in Chicago, then as a high school seminarian at Quigley Preparatory Seminary North, a young married adult, a father, a grandfather, and today an ordained deacon for the Archdiocese of Chicago. The faith permeates every facet of my life. That is what God has gifted me with and that is the way I choose to live my life. Part of being a disciple is to bring others to know the gifts and graces God has given them. So that is what I am about as well; to bring others to Christ in such a way that the faith doesn’t strike them over the head but becomes part of them in their own belief. I try to make that happen through many ways: how I live my own life as a witness to Christ, how I minister to my family, my parish, and my Church, and through this medium.

My Mission
Graced with gifts from God, I seek to bring people closer to Him through Scripture and the Tradition of the Roman Catholic Church. Those disciples "recognized Him in the breaking of the bread," (Luke 24: 35). I invite you to join me on this journey, in hopes that your faith story can be enlightened by what you discover, On the Way.

How COVID impacts On the Way

I have always prided myself on (to use a modern-day catch phrase), thinking outside the box. Certainly COVID has affected all of us. It also has invited us, as ministers, to expand our horizons and come up with new and creative ways to minister to God’s people. Here at On the Way, we are ready and willing to adapt anything that we do to an online/digital format. So call or email and we’ll certainly collaborate to come up with the best solution for you!
